Dixie Memorial Pet Cemetery and Gardens was established in May, 1992 in memory of Dixie, a silky terrier that brought sixteen years of unconditional love and and companionship to her owner.  She brought love, laughter, and happiness to the many lives she touched from 1973 to 1989.

Just two miles outside of Millington, Tennessee, Dixie Memorial Pet Gardens is located on twenty-three acres of land in Shelby County.  Dixie Memorial Pet Gardens offers beautiful countryside burial grounds for the Memphis area and neighboring communities.  There are special memorial gardens for service animals (police dogs, "seeing-eye" dogs, and other therapy assistance animals), our smaller companions (birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc.), and a special garden for cats only.  The grounds are professionally landscaped and maintained, with an arbor beside a pond for peaceful reflection and time alone.

Burial Services:  All animals are buried in air-tight, waterproof caskets.  Pre-need arrangements are available for owners anticipating the loss of an elderly or ill pet, and to those who wish to ensure that all of their pets will eventually be interred in close proximity.  Others may wish the peace of mind in knowing that their companions will have a peaceful, dignified final resting place if they should precede the animal in death.

Cremation services are available to owners who desire to have their pet's cremains returned.  Great care is taken to keep animals separated during the cremation process with minimal co-mingling of small particulate or dust.  The pet's cremated remains are returned in an urn for owner's to keep in their home, or in a simple container for scatter or burial.  A special scatter garden and a burial section for urns is available within the cemetery grounds.  Future plans include a granite columbarium for entombment of urns.

Memorial monuments are available in many styles, colors, and materials. 

Caskets and urns are available for individual purchase.  Silk or fresh floral arrangements may be placed on burial sites as desired.  Floral plans may be pre-arranged for specific holidays, the pet's birthday, and National Pet Memorial Day. 

Individuals may participate in our Beautification Fund in memorial of a beloved companion animal. The planting of bulbs, trees, shrubs, or the installation of park benches or statuary can be specified.  Our gardens are maintained as a memorial to our beloved companion animals and to provide a place of peaceful reflection for owners, handlers, families, and those who love animals.  Please mail checks to Dixie Memorial Beautification Fund, 7960 Epperson Mill Road, Millington, TN 38053, or call our offices to donate by credit or debit card.  

One Small Furry Friend

There was in our home, this small fury friend, who didn't ask to come into our lives, who didn't require much help or care.  Who didn't cost us anything, but a little food, who only asked for some of our love and attention.

This friend of ours didn't hurt anyone, by thought or deed - He tried ony to please.  All of our friend's life was spent trying to make us happy.  He asked for so little, but gave so much.  Never was he too tired, too hungry, never too sick to show us love.  In every way possible, he demonstrated his love - with the tilt of his head, th esparkle in his eye, the wag of his tail.  How he waited for us to show him some attention, so he could show us his love.  How he lived the Golden Rule!

This friend was one of our family, a most important part of our lives.  He is sadly missed, but we are so much better for his having shared his life with us.  We can think of nothing, and perhaps no one that has better taught us to give and receive love openly, unselfishly and unashamedly, as the.....One Small Furry Friend.
